He that Believeth in Me Review
April 9, 2008 – 11:59 am by AndrewSo I’m probably going to review every BSG episode this season, starting right meow. The cgi in the opening battle was the best I’ve ever seen from BSG. And that moment with Anders and the raider was truly creepy. Did that raider simply recognize him as a Cylon or did it do something to him? Also creepy is the fact that Tigh is dreaming about shooting Adama. Can you imagine anything more terrifying than forces beyond your control making you shoot your best friend? This guy already killed his wife, and while he probably wont shoot Adama it must be very unnerving for him.
As for Starbuck’s return, I think it was handled pretty well. Adama seems very unhinged by it, which is the natural reaction. I want to believe her, and I do believe that she’s not a Cylon, but the circumstances surrounding her resurrection are suspicious. Where did that new viper come from? Hell, where did that new Starbuck come from? I think it’s probably something mystical, but it’s still suspicious. I loved when she told Anders she’d kill him if she found out he were a Cylon. She totally meant it, and that must have been so terrible for Anders to hear. This show never fails to put people in horrible situations.
The Baltar stuff was pretty amusing. I enjoyed the comic relief, as well as the return of the old conniving and manipulative Gaius. I also find it interesting that he’s spreading the monotheistic religion of the Cylons to humanity. I’m hopeful all this religious stuff will have a point in the end. I think head Six is an angel or some type of representative of god, and not just Baltar’s subconscious.
As for the ending, it was lame. Ending a season opener on a to be continued is totally lame. Although, I think they’ve done it twice before so I guess it’s true to form. I really think they should have shown both parts, it’s been a frakking year for Christ’s sake. But anyway, I don’t get what Starbuck thinks she’s doing with the president. If she kills Roslin they’ll never listen to her. Even going as far as pointing a gun at her head is already super-stupid. I doubt she’s going to kill her, she’s either going to talk to her or be stopped somehow. Guess we’ll find out in a few days. Overall I’d say it was a good episode, but we didn’t get enough for a season opener.
